Meteor Shower Alert

June 27th is the peak of the Bootid Meteor shower. Originating from the constellation Boötes the meteors will be overhead after sunset. There will be a nice dark sky on Maui when the sliver of a moon sets at 9:39 PM. Find the Big dipper. Use its handle and follow the arc of the handle to one of the brightest stars in the sky Arcturus. Use the following star finding saying “Arc to Arcturus.” Arcturus is in the constellation Boötes. Although tomorrow night is the peak. You may still be able to see the meteors through July 2nd. This meteor shower is not as prolific as other well-known showers. But you never know, you might get lucky and see a streak through the sky created by ancient comet debris as it burns up in Earth’s atmosphere. How cool is that? Best viewing is laying down on a comfy futon or camping mattress under a blanket. Aloha!
